Ivonne Gomez was born in Harlem, New York City. A first generation college student, she attended State University of New York at Plattsburgh in where she received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry in 2007.

 

She worked for SUNY Plattsburgh Educational Opportunity Program as a biology, chemistry and mathematics tutor. Once graduated, she worked as a Public Health Inspector for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and for the New York City Office of the Mayor. She was elected to be on the executive board of the District Council 37 Health Service Employees Local 768 in 2011 where she represented over 3, 000 public health service workers.

 

Ms. Gomez is currently pursuing a career in the medical field. Her goals are to serve underprivileged communities throughout the world and encourage disadvantaged youths to pursue science based careers.
